PROBLEM GAMBLING AWARENESS TRAINING

This presentation is designed to increase the effectivess of relapse prevention strategies, improve culturally sensitive treatment outcomes, and help identify and address the co-occurring disorder of problem gambling which can present a barrier to recovery.

Training can be customized to fit a 2- to 4-hour format, is available on-site at the requesting organization's location and includes 2-4 Certified Counselor CEHs (Continuing Education Hours)*.  Yes, all these services are Cost-Free! 

*Note:  BBS Certificate of CEHs are available for a fee of $10.00 and are provided through NAPAFASA.

Introduction to an Effective Behavioral Intervention for HIV Prevention for African American Women 

Don’t miss nationally recognized SISTA Institute Master Trainer Jo-Ann Marie Hoye’s, insightful presentation on effective behavioral interventions in HIV prevention for African American women. Ms. Hoye is a well-sought after trainer and expert in HIV Prevention for African Americans, and an HIV/AIDS capacity building / technical assistance training consultant.

“SISTA” (Sisters Informing Sisters about Topics on AIDS) is an evidenced-based, peer-led skills-building intervention project to prevent HIV infection in African American women. The goal of SISTA is to reduce sexual risk behavior by heterosexually–active African American women at highest risk for HIV.

This workshop is an introduction of the components of the SISTA Suite.
Attendees gain the knowledge and information necessary to self-assess their agencies’ readiness and capacity to implement SISTA as an effective, evidence–based intervention for African American women.  Community-based organizations (CBOs) AIDS service organizations (ASOs) and other primary decision-makers working with African American women  will benefit from participation.

Improving Youth Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Outcomes

Nationally recognized trainer and consultant, Roland Williams’ presents on the latest trends and strategies for treating alcohol and other drug abuse among youth.  An internationally certified addictions counselor and acclaimed author, Mr. Williams, has diligently promoted substance treatment for youth throughout the country, including working with the Michigan, Florida and California Departments of Juvenile Justice/Corrections.

This workshop provides practical clinical techniques and knowledge for counselors, therapists, social workers, juvenile justice professionals and other clinicians, working with substance abusing youth and their families.  Participants will gain specific clinical interventions that can be immediately utilized in their practice.
